Dr. Kim Stanton is a lawyer, independent consultant, and Senior Fellow at Massey College at the University of Toronto, where she completed her doctorate of juridical science on truth commissions and public inquiries in established democracies.
She was a commissioner on the Mass Casualty Commission (the joint federal/provincial public inquiry into the April 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia) and conducted an independent systemic review of the legal system's treatment of intimate partner violence and sexual violence for the British Columbia government.
Dr. Stanton is the author of Reconciling Truths: Reimagining Public Inquiries in Canada (UBC Press), which was short-listed for the Writers Trust of Canada 2022 Balsillie Prize for Public Policy and listed in The Hill Times Top 100 Books of 2022.
